A PURPOSE THAT CONNECTS US

Our story begins
with small farmers.

Founded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 1995, ECTAD Caribbean is a nonprofit, voluntary, nongovernmental rural development organisation.

Our work puts small farming families at its centre. By strengthening skills, supporting sustainable resource management and connecting farmers with markets, we help build a more secure future for rural communities.

We believe progress grows from local knowledge, practical expertise and farmers taking an active role in shaping their livelihoods.

OUR MISSION

Better livelihoods.
Lasting opportunity.

To improve the quality of life of small farmers and their families by strengthening their capacity to earn sustainable, profitable incomes and manage their resources responsibly.

OUR VISION

Prosperity that
reaches everyone.

Sustained economic and social prosperity for rural farming communities across the Caribbean and beyond.

WHAT DRIVES OUR WORK

Three connected priorities.

From how farmers organise to how produce reaches the market, our approach keeps communities at the centre.

01 / SUSTAINABILITY

Building greater
self-reliance.

We work with members on approaches that help rural and agricultural organisations reduce dependency on donors and governments and build a stronger foundation for the future.

02 / FARMER-LED MARKETING

Keeping more value
close to home.

Farmers take responsibility for grading, packaging, shipping and distribution. Their involvement helps them retain more of the value created and keep that wealth within rural communities.

03 / AGRICULTURE & HEALTH

Connecting local food
and wellbeing.

Our agri-health work raises awareness of the relationship between agriculture, nutrition and health, encouraging a greater appreciation of nutritious, locally grown foods.

HOW WE MOVE FORWARD
