Market Updates May 2018

The UK Market consolidated

The feedback of buyers and consumers of dasheen and other root crops has been one of overall satisfaction on the quality of these crops grown in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the reliability of the supply. Output to the English market has increased by 60% in the first quarter of 2018.

Eye on the Dutch Market

The launching of ECTAD offices in Guyana and Suriname has opened up the opportunities to export local root and tuber crops, ginger and turmeric from these ports. Negotiations with Dutch buyers are progressing.

Testing the French Connection

ECTAD CARIBBEAN is excited at the possibility of capturing a share of the French market by making moves into the French market with its first shipment of two hundred and twenty-five boxes of local produce of dasheen and other root and tuber crops. We are currently in negotiations to facilitate an additional five commodities along with our dasheen shipments.

Boosting Regional Trading Connection

Due to quarantine issues, there has been a brief hiatus of ECTAD CARIBBEAN shipments throughout the region. These issues are being address with a resolution expected by the end of May 2018.   At that time, trade in ginger, yams, passion fruit, and turmeric will be cleared.  ECTAD will resume shipments of these products on June 01, 2018.  ECTAD has a great track record shipping regionally having successfully shipped four 40 ft containers containing avocadoes, sweet potatoes, dasheen ,yams, tannias, hot and flavour peppers, bananas, eddoes, passion fruit, ginger and plaintains to our regional buyers/partners.
